Job Description :

Under the direction of the Transportation Team Leader, the incumbent:

- At all times, performs dual identification of patients with whom he/she comes in contact in the performance of his/her duties.
- Provides transportation of patients within the hospital.
- Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary care team as required.
- Communicates and collaborates with all members of the interdisciplinary care team.
- Provides for the comfort and general needs of patients and their families and assists them in their movements.
- Uses appropriate means (e.g., personal protective equipment) to protect his/her health and to ensure his/her safety and physical integrity, as well as that of clients and staff members.
- Participates in training and information sessions on occupational health and safety and on the principles of safe movement of beneficiaries (PDSB).
- Participates in the identification and reporting of unsafe working conditions and occupational hazards.
- Adheres to workplace policies and procedures regarding health and safety.
- Assists patients with mobility (e.g., bed to chair, toilet, dining area, or solarium) and walking while applying the BSLP at all times
- Cleans and maintains equipment and supplies as required and reports any necessary repairs or replacements.
- Reports any unsafe conditions.
- Notifies his/her manager of any incident or accident, which he/she has witnessed and completes the incident/accident report (AH 223).
- Provides basic care to the client, as required, during transfer.
- Sets up oxygen tanks.
- Under the direction and supervision of Security and Administration in place, assists in the search within the hospital if a patient runs away or is abducted.
- Performs all other duties related to the transfer of patients (e.g. moving between units)
- Transports the body of deceased persons to the morgue and assists in the safe identification of bodies according to the policy in place.
- Disinfects equipment after use and returns used equipment
- Transports equipment/items between departments (linen, specimens, trays, etc....)
- Performs any other duties as required by his/her immediate supervisor.
Requirements :

Completed high school diploma or have a comparative evaluation of studies done outside Quebec issued by the Ministry of Immigration.


- Previous experience in a hospital environment (an asset)


- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual: French/English
